Overview of Bugatti Chiron

Bugatti Chiron is one of the top 10 fastest cars in the world and king of sports cars. The sports car is the successor to the Bugatti Veyron, named after the driver Louis Chiron. Although Bugatti produced the Chiron in 2016, it still exists in the list of top 10 fastest cars in the world. The sports car ranks at number 8 in the list of top 10 fastest cars in the world.

The Bugatti head exterior designer Frank Heyl designed the sports car in collaboration with Italian engineering firm Dallara and tire manufacturer Michelin.

Speed Test and World Records

Customer cars are electronically limited to 261 mph, But Bugatti claims the Chiron can go much faster.

CEO Stefan Winkelmann has said the car is capable of 280 mph, which would make it the fastest production car in the world.

Chiron broke the record of fastest 0–400–0 km/h (0–249–0 mph) acceleration time by accelerating from 0–400–0 km/h in just 41.96 seconds covering a distance of 3.2 kilometres (2 miles) at the Ehra-Lessien high-speed oval. The car was driven by racing driver Juan Pablo Montoya during the speed test held at Ehra Lessien.

Engine

The same engine used in the Bugatti Veyron powers the Bugatti Chiron, but modified to produce more power that is the 8.0-lire quad-turbocharged W16 engine with the displacement of 7933 cc.

This hypercar generates an enormous power output of 1479 horsepower (1,500 PS; 1,103 kW) and 1180 lb-ft of torque.

Transmission

Seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission system powers the Bugatti Chiron.

Other specifications

The Chiron accompany a large number of specifications such as carbon fibre body structure, independent suspension, Haldex All-wheel drive system and a torque vectoring system which helps to navigate tighter corners.

The sports car consumes an average fuel of 35.2 L/100 km on highways, 15.2 L/100 km in cities and Mix fuel consumption is 22.5 L/100 km.

Performance of Bugatti Chiron

The hypercar accelerates from 0–100 km/h (0–62 mph) in just 2.4 seconds, 0–200 km/h (0–124 mph) in 6.5 seconds and 0–300 km/h (0–186 mph) in 13.6 seconds.

The Chiron also broke the fastest 0-400-0 km/h record, accelerating in 41.96 seconds; accelerating from 0-400 km/h (249 mph) in 32.6 seconds and then deaccelerating from 400 km/h to zero in 9.36 seconds.

Bugatti Chiron is capable of reaching the top speed of 280 km/h, but it’s electronically limited to 261 mph due to safety limitations, especially tires. No tire company manufactured the tire which can resist such fast speeds for a longer time.

Production of Bugatti Chiron

Bugatti produced only 60 units of Bugatti Chiron in 2016 offering an astonishing price of $2.6 million each. Out of them, half of them were reserved before the release of this supercar by paying an advance deposit of €200,000 before their purchase

Bugatti manufactured Chiron at a small factory in Molsheim, France. The production was a sophisticated process because just 20 employees assembled it by hand from more than 1,800 parts.
