Why It’s the Last Year for the Rolls Royce Dawn and Wraith in the US

Do you love the Rolls Royce brand? It’s used by some of the most elite people in the world including the British Royal Family. Unfortunately, the sun is setting on two key Rolls Royce models. Both will expire in the coming years, with U.S. production ending in 2021, the automaker confirmed. The new models of Rolls Royce were never designed to move away from the architecture of luxury; they’re designed to be still plenty posh, but more laid back.

Eight years on from its debut, the Rolls Royce Dawn is still a mega presence. Rolls Royce said they will no longer issue Dawn or Wraith models after 2021 in the U.S. Production will continue until 2023 in the rest of the world.

So what does this mean for you and what replacement models are available? Here’s everything you need to know.

The End of the Architecture of Luxury

The new models of Rolls Royce were never designed to move away from the architecture of luxury; they’re designed to be still plenty posh, but more laid back.

The automaker has focused on models that use its specialized architecture for luxury platforms like the Cullinan, the Ghost, and the Rolls Royce Phantom.

The new models – a great Rolls Royce Wraith replacement – use the F01 platform borrowed from Rolls-Royce’s “parent company,” BMW, which is the basis for the latest generation of the 7-series sedans. As the new names suggest, they give the cars a darker look.

The engine has been updated to 605 lb-ft. The black version of the Wraith was added in 2016 with the most powerful version of a V12 engine, which has 642 lb-ft of torque.

A Sport Drive mode, which is reached via a lower button on the shift lever, brings more momentum to the car and accelerates the aggressive shifting of the eight-speed automatic.

A Powerful Ride

Despite the size of wraiths and the general anxiety associated with driving a $500,000 car, driving on L.A’s narrow streets is surprisingly easy. It is powerful and quick like lightning, and the ride quality is superb.

The interior is comfortable and protected, and the superlight, direct steering is unlike any other car you’ve ever driven.

Following the launch of the Wraith, Rolls-Royce announced the Dawn Convertible in 2015. It had its first deliveries in 2016.

Ten years later the Wraith looks as good as ever. The convertible companion to the Wraith, the Dawn, differs from the 1980s Dawn in that the body panels differ from those of the Wraith.

The radiator grille has a different design and the front bumper extends by 2 inches. The power comes from the same twin-turbocharged V12 as in the Wraith (563 bhp) and the Wraith, but the Dawn got the black badge and the power was increased to 593 bhp and 620 lbft.

Alternative Speacil Models

As well as the standard version with the black emblem, Rolls-Royce offers a range of special models and a whole host of bespoke creations for affluent customers. Favorites in recent years include the Neon, Black Badge,, and Pastel collections. The salmon-colored Dawn is in the works as is the salmon-colored DAWN.

Just because one Rolls-Royce model is two-door does not indicate a fall in demand for its products. On the contrary, the company delivered around 1,400 cars in Q1 2021, an increase of 62% since 2020. It is not yet known what will happen to the two models

Rolls Royce Dawn: A New Era Begins

Although the Rolls Royce Dawn and the Wraith are being decommissioned, there’s still a lot to celebrate. Rolls Royce prides itself on innovation and always taking its cars to the next level. Rolls Royce 2022 is going to be no exception.

So you can bet the latest models in years to come will exceed even the wildest expectations.
