Overview of the Lamborghini Veneno Roadster
Lamborghini Veneno Roadster: Specs, Performance & Price. The Lamborghini Veneno Coupe is one of the most expensive and rare production hypercars that was based on the Lamborghini Aventador. This beast was purposely designed by the famous Italian automobile manufacturer Lamborghini to celebrate Lamborghini’s 50th anniversary. This beast was first introduced at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show to celebrate Lamborghini’s successful 50 years.

Later, the company introduced a refined version of Veneno, the Lamborghini Veneno Roadster, at the Italian naval aircraft carrier Cavour docked in Abu Dhabi’s Mina Zayed port in 2014, and then at the 2014 Las Vegas Consumer Electronics Show. Lamborghini Veneno Roadster was initially listed at a price of €3.3 million (US$3.75 million), excluding taxes.
Although the Roadster shares the same heart as the basic variant, it is actually 50 kg (110.2 lb) heavier than the coupe because of additional parts installed for its open-top design. This beast is currently the most expensive Lamborghini ever sold for US$4.5 million, beating the previous record of the Sesto Elemento that was sold for US$2.2–2.9 million. In today’s article, we will dive deep into the Lamborghini Veneno Roadster and explore the wonderful story of this hypercar.

Design and Development of the Lamborghini Veneno Roadster
Designer
The Lamborghini Veneno Roadster was designed by the famous designers Filippo Perini and Michele Tinazzo. Unlike other Lamborghinis, the Roadster was inspired by racing prototypes to reduce aerodynamic stresses and improve performance goals. Moreover, it was designed with carbon-fiber to reduce the car’s weight to reach higher speeds. Aside from this, this hypercar’s Y-shaped design was inherited from the Lamborghini Aventador, and the rear wheels are inspired by the Lamborghini Countach. Despite its insane performance levels, the Roadster still passed the safety and road registration standards. The purpose of this car was not only to reach high speeds but also to ensure the safety of the driver and passengers. It is accompanied by a wide range of advanced safety features, including airbags, an ESP handling system, and an aggressive braking system.

Engine
The Lamborghini Veneno Roadster is powered by the same engine as the Lamborghini Aventador, a 6.5-litre V12, pushing it to generate an insane power of 750 hp @ 8,400 rpm and 690 Nm of torque @ 5,500 rpm.
This enormous engine helps the Roadster accelerate from 0–100 km/h in just 2.9 seconds and reach a top speed of 355 km/h. How can a V12 engine generate this insane speed? The answer is aerodynamics; please scroll down to learn more about it.
Transmission
The Lamborghini Roadster is powered by the same 7-speed ISR (Independent Shifting Rods) transmission system as the Lamborghini Aventador. Though it is the same, it is tuned for better performance on the track. Apart from this, this hypercar is an all-wheel-drive vehicle and comes with a pushrod suspension.
Aerodynamics

Aerodynamics plays a vital role in improving the performance levels of a car. Therefore, the company enlarged the air vents to enhance performance levels.
The hypercar is influenced by road-legal racing prototypes, making it possible to achieve its performance goals. The front of the car is arrow-shaped for maximum airflow, which helps generate strong downforce, cooling, and improved stability at high speeds.
The Lamborghini Veneno Roadster is accompanied by a large carbon-fibre rear wing, helping the car reduce aerodynamic stresses. On top of that, the car comes with turbine-like designed wheels that direct air to the car’s braking system, preventing the brakes from overheating.
The Veneno Roadster’s entire body is made to effectively control airflow. The rear fenders are designed to increase airflow and decrease drag, while the front functions like a massive aerodynamic wing. In order to enhance downforce, the smooth floor beneath the vehicle transitions into a huge rear diffuser that encircles the four exhaust pipes. Hot air can escape from the engine bay through large openings near the back, which direct airflow toward the rear wing.

Lamborghini Veneno Roadster Performance
The Lamborghini Veneno Roadster has been designed with lightweight carbon-fiber to reduce the weight to less than 1,500 kg. This weight reduction helped in maintaining the power-to-weight ratio of just 2 kg/hp.
Both the weight reduction and the car design helped in achieving the top speed of 356 km/h. Aside from this, this hypercar can accelerate from 0–100 km/h (0–60 mph) in just 2.8 seconds. Furthermore, it can decelerate from 100 km/h to 0 in less than 30 metres.
Despite its aggressive speed, it has a fuel consumption of 17.2 L/100 km and produces 398 g/km of CO₂ emissions.
Lamborghini Veneno Roadster Production Details
Both the Lamborghini Veneno Coupe and Lamborghini Veneno Roadster are rare; they were built in limited numbers. Lamborghini produced only four Veneno Coupes and nine Lamborghini Veneno Roadsters.

Out of four coupes, one was retained for the factory museum, and the remaining three were sold to customers, all painted in Grigio Metalluro with contrasts of either red, green, or white, representing the Italian flag. Apart from this, all nine units of Lamborghini Veneno Roadsters were customized according to the customers’ needs.
Lamborghini Veneno Roadster Price & Market Value
We have heard that a Montreal-based dealership has listed a Lamborghini Veneno Roadster for sale for US$13.9 million, making it the highest-priced Lamborghini we’ve seen so far.

We don’t think this hypercar will ever be sold for such a huge price, but no one knows what could happen next. This year, a 2015 black Veneno Roadster was sold for approximately US$6 million on Supercar Blondie’s auction site SBX CARS after sitting for two years in a dealership in Dubai. Initially, it was listed at US$9.5 million. This huge sale ended up making a new world record for the most expensive car sold online, surpassing the LaFerrari Aperta sold in 2022 for US$5.35 million.
