Bloodhound SSC | Fastest Car in the World (Land Speed Record) – Hi guys!! I hope you are doing good. Today we will talk about the most googled car which will soon become the fastest car in the world. We have been talking and researching a lot about the most well-known supercars such as Bugatti Chiron, SSC Ultimate Aero, Hennessey Venom F5, Koenigsegg Agera RS, and many more. Today we will talk about the supercar, which is just mind-blowing!! This car is not less than a jet. Ok, I will tell you about this hypercar, but why to hurry? Just wait for a little more while. Let us talk a bit more about it.
The hypercar is roughly a 13 meter long, which is powered by a jet and rocket engine, which would go as fast as 1000 miles per hour, which is about 240 miles per hour more quickly than the speed of sound. The well-known hypercar is Bloodhound LSR, formerly known as Bloodhound SSC. This fantastic supercar is the successor of the Thrust SSC.

The Bloodhound project was launched in 2008 in London to produce the fastest car in the world that would be able to reach the maximum speed of 1,000 mph. Grafton LSR Ltd manufactured this supercar. This project has cost about 30 million pounds. But, the overall investment can be increased by up to 60 million pounds. This supercar is the most sophisticated car ever made because more than 3500 parts are used in this supercar.

Project technician Mark Blackwell said AFP, “It’s like an airplane but on four wheels”.

Bloodhound LSR, formerly known as Bloodhound SSC, a supersonic car, is accompanied by a Rolls-Royce EJ200 turbofan jet engine, which is also used in the Eurofighter Typhoon aircraft. In the future, the company will also attach a rocket below the jet engine. After attaching the rocket, the company hopes the car will be able to reach the massive speeds of 800mph, which will be a new land speed record. This supercar weighs 7.5 tonnes (6804 kg) which, can generate a maximum horsepower of 135,000.
The recent high-speed test took place at the Hakskeenpan – a mud and salt pan located in the Kalahari Desert, Southern Africa. To conduct the speed test, a site 500 m wide and 16 km long was cleared of stones. The Bloodhound LSR driven by Andy Green reached a maximum massive speed of 628 mph / 1,010 kph in 50 seconds on the test day held at Hakskeenpan. The fast car hit 320 km/h in just 9 seconds during the free test. The supercar has become the unofficial 6th fastest land car in the world.
The team also said, “they detected supersonic airflow around the rear suspension during the test”.

The supercar was sent to a desert track in the Northern Cape, a province of South Africa, to perform a new round of tests. The various tests were made to calculate the aerodynamic stresses on the car, and further tests were also made to test out its braking systems. So far, it reached 501 mph (806 km/h).
A runway test has also occurred at Newquay, Cornwall, in the year 2017. Lockheed Martin’s team also did many other tests and investigations at Cavendish Laboratory to select the wheels of the car, which we will be talking about in the latter part of this article.

The Thrust SSC set a World Speed Record of 760 mph on land on October 15, 1997. This supercar is the first and the only one to break the record of Sound Barrier, but this record won’t last long. The Bloodhound would soon break this prestigious record. The team says efforts to break the land speed will take place next year.
“We came here to say Bloodhound is Go! And that’s exactly what we managed to demonstrate today,” Green said after the test run in Newquay in the southwest of England.
“The performance, the handling, the stability of it — I can’t fault the car at all, it just worked brilliantly.”
– Andy Green

Bloodhound LSR is a rocket-shaped massive supercar. This supersonic car is going to be the fastest car in the world. So, to ensure the safety and stability of both the vehicle and driver, it’s aerodynamics must be taken into consideration. To avoid aerodynamic stresses, this supersonic car is designed as narrow as possible. This car is accompanied by a Rolls-Royce EJ200 turbofan jet engine, which is also used in aeroplanes. This fast car rides about 5 inches above the ground.

Bloodhound runs on the four wheels, 36-inch (910 mm) diameter each.
An initial feasibility study was conducted to decide which alloy should be used. Lockheed Martin’s team performed most of the investigations and tests at Cavendish Laboratory.
The following aluminum alloys were initially chosen for wheels of Bloodhound LSR: AA2014 and AA7075, which are also used in aircraft wheels.
The team investigated thoroughly both the alloys to check the damage caused by the impact of rock particles at approximately 1000 mph.
Optical metallography was done to research more about these alloys. Some tearing of the aluminum surface failed this test.
So, bloodhound asked Lockheed Martin’s team to use stronger alloy. They come up with two stronger aluminum alloys: Alcoa (AA7085) and Otto Fuchs (AA7037).
Both alloys are like each other with similar physical as well as chemical properties.
Otto Fuchs (AA7037) was the final choice because Alcoa (AA7085) was not available in Europe. Therefore, AA7037 was used for producing wheels. This is the reason that tires don’t burst at the massive speeds above 500 Mph.

I had no idea about this car- how cool!!!
Wow, great post. Never knew they put Jet engines on cars like that. Seems dangerous.
All I want to know how fast the heart rate of the deriver on the top speed....
I heard about Bloodhound but I did not have clue that it's so crazy...
What a crazy looking car, this looks like a rocket ship! Thanks for all the neat info, I don't think I've ever heard of the bloodhound let alone seen any photos of it.
This is insane! That is really fast. It does look like a rocket ship -- nice and aerodynamic. I hadn't ever heard or seen this vehicle before. Thanks for sharing!
This is really helpful, thanks for sharing this information
I have never heard about this car! it looks insane!!
