The Most Fun Vehicles Introduced This Year

The Most Fun Vehicles Introduced This Year

There were many new models this year that deserved a closer look.  If you want something fun, you have more choices than ever before when it comes to adventure rides and off-roaders.

Chevrolet Trailblazer

This fun SUV is an urban wanderer.  However, it does have an Activ trim for those who want to go off-road. The SUV can sport a different color roof as well as other sporty details. It’s on the list here because it can be had for just under $20,000.  It’s the budget choice compared to the many others on this list.

Ford Bronco Sport

Notice this has the name Sport!  It is not the bigger off-roading Bronco. Instead its a sporty entry that has its own fun attributes including a contract-color roof.  With an MSRP at $26,660, it’s not the budget model that the Trailblazer is. On the other hand, it is much more capable than the Trailblazer when it comes to off-roading challenges.

Honda Passport

While not the off-roader that some hoped it would be, this is still a fun SUV. It’s like getting a Pilot without the third row.  Plus, it is much more athletic.  Honda utilizes i-VTM4 torque-vectoring all-wheel drive to achieve trail capability.  For the 2022 model year, it’s been updated even more to be more aggressive and capable.  The Passport TrailSport takes the SUV even further off the beaten path.

Toyota RAV4 TRD Off-Road

Many people read about the RAV4 and assume it can go on the trail. Actually, it needs to be the TRD Off-Road trim to really go on adventures without concern.  The SUV utilizes Toyota’s own dynamic torque vectoring system with rear driveline disconnect.  This AWD, more ground clearance, and multi-terrain select help the RAV4 TRD Off-Road become a true contender on the trail.  This SUV promises the kind of fun that has you asking, ‘how much is my trade-in worth’!?

Ford Bronco

Here’s the real thing.  The first SUV to seriously challenge the Jeep Wrangler, the Bronco has removable roofs and doors.  It can go head to head with the Wrangler on the trail. It has lots of fun trim levels with fun names like Sasquatch, Wildtrak and Badlands. Ford’s given this ride a turbo four Ecoboost engine. This allows it to have better fuel economy while still generating 275 horsepower and 315 pound-feet of torque.  The V6 turbo generates 310 horsepower and 400 pound-feet of torque.

Chevy Colorado ZR2

The fastest and most furious Colorado is the ZR2.  This truck has the capability to handle rock crawling, high-speed desert running, and other off-road challenges.  Chevy gives this ride special damper technology, exclusive electronic locking differentials, and a jacked-up suspension.

Jeep Gladiator

The Jeep truck has shown itself to be every bit as capable as the Wrangler. While it looks a lot like its sibling, the Gladiator was created from scratch. The fun colors and classic style clues make this 100 percent Jeep.  Its standard four-wheel drive ensures that you can get the most basic Gladiator and still take the trail with ease.

Chevy Camaro ZL1

The Camaro remains a competitive member of the muscle car family.  It is powered by a V8 engine that cranks out 650 horsepower.  Track capability is possible thanks to upgrades like 11 heat exchangers, Brembo brakes, and more.  The interior features Recaro sport seats with ventilation.  A sueded flat bottom steering wheel adds another element to the car’s racy demeanour.

Ford Mustang Mach 1

Costing around $53,000, the new Ford Mustang Mach 1 is not an electric vehicle. It’s natural to be confused since Ford also introduced the Mach e SUV.  However, this is an exciting take on the Mustang brand.  It has a potent V8 engine that creates 460 horsepower and 420 lb-ft of torque. If you don’t want the excellent Tremec manual, Ford offers its 10-speed automatic instead.  The Mach 1 really looks the part of the fastest Mustang, and there are even more important upgrades where  you can’t see. Heavy duty front springs, Brembo six-piston brakes, an open air induction system, and electronic line-lock are among the additions.

Ram TRX

What happens when you take the Dodge Hellcat engine and put it in a Ram?  You get the Ram TRX.  This truck has a 6.2-liter V8 that has been supercharged. It kicks out 702 horsepower for a 4.5-second sprint.  It’s truly a different version of the regular Ram truck. It is bigger, wider, and stylistically unique.  The TRX can ford up to 32 inches of water, handle off-roading challenges, and compete on a level most people associate with Jeep.

Ford F150 Tremor

Sliding in below the remarkable Raptor, the Tremor is another off-roader. Ford has evolved its Trail Control system to include Trail 1-Pedal Drive and Trail Turn Assist.  Tremor elements strengthen the shocks, control arms, and front knuckles. A Torsen Differential, electronic locking rear differential and a 9.75-inch gearseat are among the tools it uses for the most extreme adventures.

These models are proof that automotives can still be fun, even as we turn over highway driving to adaptive cruise control and other driver’s aids.
